Biggest Wild Brown Trout

Monday 10th August 2009 saw the capture of the biggest wild Brown Trout ever from Crosswood. The fish which was carefully weighed before its release, came in at 12lb 8oz and was caught by David Robertson boat fishing using a claret hopper.

David also caught another two five pound browns and rainbows at 7lb and 8lb 10oz.

There were good numbers of browns in the four to five pound bracket showing on the surface coming up for the heather fly.

Mr Jolly fishing the evening session also hooked a large brown from the same area but unfortunately lost it.

Macmillan Cancer Big Fish fly fishing competition result

£4,344-30 was raised by the thirty one anglers that took part in the Macmillan Cancer Big Fish fly fishing competition on Saturday June 13th. Included in the total was £300 that was raised in raffle ticket sales.

Wayne Cram landed a tagged fish but at the weigh-in when the envelope was opened it turned out to be the booby prize.

57 fish weighing 146lb 4oz were landed with a further eight returned.

Tiger Trout

Tiger Trout will be stocked for the Macmillan Cancer Big Fish, for which there will be a prize for the first one caught.

Proper Evening Rise

Friday 29th May saw the first proper evening rise with many limit bags being taken. The following evening saw brown trout of 7lbs and 5lbs along with rainbows up to 6lb caught.

Airflo Classic International Result 2009

Monday, April 27th, 2009

The Airflo Classic International was held on Saturday.

Most of the anglers decided to head to the bank opposite the lodge in preperation for the gun going off at 9am.

First to weigh in after only forty five minutes was the eventual third placed angler Ali Middlemass.

43 fish for 91lb 14oz were weighed in, with a further 13 rainbow trout returned.

The top three individuals qualify for the final at Elinor Fishery on Saturday 10th Otober 2009.

The first placed team qualify for the final on Sunday 11th October 2009.
